The Mid Council Report: What is "Missional"? #PCUSA

The center concept in the Mid-Council Commission Report is that all structures of the church should serve "missional congregations."  There is much conversation and considerable confusion over what 'missional' means. 

We offer these definitions:

• Missional congregations: the central organizing principle is personal and communal participation in the mission of God in Jesus Christ to redeem and heal all of creation.
• A Missional PC(USA): every structure beyond the congregation exists so that congregations can fulfill their mission.
